Intimacy is my Muse. |
and I am currently uninspired. |
Last Thursday I managed to pick up Eight advanced tickets to the new Disney/Miyazaki film Ponyo at this fancy theater in downtown Seattle. I was pretty hyped about it honestly, I love almost every Miyazaki film I’ve ever seen and I was actually quite enthusastic about Matt Damon & Liam Neeson’s voice acting (which sounds pretty corny I know) in the movie.
So it wound up being me, kyle, his sister Samantha, her best friend Kelsey, Kyle’s best friend Daniel, their mutal friend Jon, my best friend Amanda and Audrey who wound up getting the tickets. It was a pretty interesting group to say the least. We took two cars, left at 6pm and managed to get there by 6:20 (with parking and all) for a movie that started at 7:00. However, much to my surprise when we reached the fourth floor (where the theater was) the line specifically for ponyo, not only went around the whole floor, but looped around the escalators and overlapped the beginning of the line. :/ the chances of us getting in seemed rather slim. But we stayed in line anyway assuming they were showing it in multiple theaters.
and after thirty minutes of waiting in a rather fast paced line, we managed to get about fifty feet from the door, only to be turned away. It was quite sad, but I figured as much. As we were about to leave, we wound up running into Daniel’s recently ex-girlfriend Megan’s sister, and he pulled our friend Kelsey aside from the group and had her pretend to be his girlfriend just so that it wouldn’t make him seem so “lame” i suppose, because his ex recently found a new boyfriend.
So that went on until she left, and then the after a bit of arguing on what to do next, we all managed to agree to go to Johnny Rocket’s, the restaurant right next to the theater and we all got milkshakes, fries, and a couple burgers. making the day not seem like a total waste at all.
I’m not quite sure if I’m going to pay full price to see Ponyo anytime soon, but I do still really want to see it.
EDIT:
oh and if you were wondering I get my advanced screening tickets from http://www.filmmetro.com/ and http://www.gofobo.com/
